Doctoral fellowships

Graduate students may have access to the following funding sources:

FRIA fellowships
Two-years fellowships which are renewable. Practical work may start each September with the introduction of the FRIA application. If obtained (decision is available in December) the fellowship runs for 27 months and is almost automatically prolonged with another 21 months if everything goes well. Both Belgians and non-Belgians may apply.

FNRS fellowships
Applications by graduate students should be introduced each year in January.

Marie Curie fellowships
The Marie Curie programme of the commission of the EU provides fellowships for graduate students. Applications can be introduced several times per year. For more information, you should consult the CORDIS web pages.

FSR fellowships
These fellowships are available from the university and are valid for one or two years maximum. Applications should be introduced every year by the thesis supervisor.

Bourses de Patrimoine
These fellowships are given by the Faculty of Medicine to students often in order to finish their thesis work.
Some of the ICP laboratories may award the student the equivalent of a fellowship from their own financial sources which is then paid via the university.
