Research activities and scientific achievements
General theme of research: regulation of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in mammalian tissues.
Demonstration of the role of futile cycles in the control of liver gluconeogenesis. Discovery of fructose 2,6-bisphosphate (with E. Van Schaftingen and HG Hers). Discovery of two genes coding for PFK-2/FBPase-2, the bifunctional enzyme responsible for the synthesis and degradation of fructose 2,6-bisphosphate (with G. Rousseau). Discovery of new targets for AMPK (with M.H. Rider). Discovery of the anabolic response of the liver to cell swelling.
Publication of more than 180 research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
